Getting started

One page, bounded to 48 — like a Field Notes memo book. You write on it fast, and as you go you say what became of each scrap: roll it into a task, file it to the cabinet, gather it with related scraps, or scratch it out. When the 48th page fills, you shelve the book and start the next. That's the whole thing.

Just type. The page is always there when you unlock — there's no blank-document ritual. A blank line starts a new scrap.

A scrap is a block of writing between blank lines — the unit the four verbs act on. Each item in a list (a "- " or "1." line) is its own scrap too, so you can tag, roll, or scratch list items one at a time. A plain multi-line paragraph travels as one piece.

You shelve it and start the next book — that's the ending the whole app is built around. Disposing scraps won't buy you room: a scar keeps the full space of what it replaced, so the only way past 48 is a new book. As you write you roll, file, gather, or scratch each scrap to say what became of it — moved out to a task or the cabinet, gathered with its kin, or scratched because it's done with. At 48 of 48 the book is full and the shelf ceremony appears; shelve it and Book No. 2 opens. Nothing is deleted — a finished book is the whole record.
