Tags & gather

Label scraps with #tags, then pull them together.

How do I tag a scrap?

Write a #tag straight into it — #dogfood, #48pages, #idea. Tags are single words (letters, numbers, and hyphens), coloured in the accent so they stand out, and they autocomplete as you type against tags you've used before. A scrap can wear as many as you like.

Can I tag or untag several at once?

Yes. Select across the scraps (or list items) you mean, open ⌘K, and type >tag #foo — it adds #foo to every scrap the selection covers. To remove tags, >untag strips them all from the selection, or >untag #foo removes just that one. With nothing selected, both act on the scrap your caret is in.

How do I see everything with a tag?

Click a #tag on the page, or open ⌘K and type #tag. You'll see every live scrap and filed entry that wears it — plus any disposed scraps (scars) that still carry it, listed read-only under IN SCARS. Combine tags to narrow: "#48pages #copyreview" matches only what wears both. Search runs on your device, like everything else.

Can I filter a tag, e.g. hide the ones I’ve sent?

Yes. Add a "-tag" to exclude it: "#dogfood -sent" shows everything tagged #dogfood except what you've marked #sent. When you search a tag, there's also a one-tap "hide #sent" toggle that does the same. Gather and mark-sent then act on exactly what's shown.

Can I pull a tag’s scraps together?

Yes — that's GATHER, one of the four verbs. From a tag's results (⌘K, then #tag) tap gather to compile every scrap wearing it into one block at the spot you're writing now, under a dated heading (e.g. "Gathered dogfood on Jul 27, 2026") — for the moment you want all your #dogfood or #idea scraps in one place to read, copy, or hand off. Each origin stays put as a ⤿ gathered scar, and #sent scraps are skipped. See The four verbs for exactly what the scar looks like.

How do I mark scraps I’ve dealt with?

Tag them #sent. It's an ordinary tag, but it renders struck-through like a scratched scar so a handled scrap reads as done at a glance — and gather skips #sent scraps, so once you've sent a batch on it won't gather them again. From a tag's results you can mark the whole batch #sent in one step.
