The book & the shelf
Page 48, the ceremony, and finished volumes.
What is THE BOOK?
A 48-tile minimap of your current book (⇧⌘B). Each tile's ink shows how full that page is; click one to jump there. Disposed scraps stay in place as dimmed scars, so the ink you see is everything the page holds.
What happens at page 48?
The shelf ceremony appears. Your book presents its ledger — days, scraps, rolled, filed, scratched — and offers to shelve it and start Book No. 2, or to keep triaging. It's deliberate; nothing is archived automatically.
Where do finished books go?
Onto the shelf, inside the cabinet — dark spines wearing the 48 mark. They're read-only: open one to read it and copy out a selection, but you can never write in it again.
Can I keep two notebooks at once?
No — one book at a time, sequential volumes. When this one fills you archive it and start the next. That limit is the point of the whole app.
